Benna Douglas

Kundalini Yoga teacher, actress, dancer

Benna Douglas is a Kundalini Yoga and Meditation teacher whose work lives at the intersection of discipline, artistry, and soul. Classically trained as an actress and dancer, her foundation spans the Alexander and Laban Techniques, Lecoq-based movement, mime, stage combat, martial arts, Tai Chi, and Qi Gong—cultivated across London, Thailand, and New York. Devoted to the body as a vehicle for the soul she is a lifelong student, Benna brings her experience to her Kundalini classes with an approach rooted in body intelligence and energetics—supporting individuals in moving through pain, injury, and identity patterns with lightness and presence.

Influenced by the philosophical tenets of Sikhism and the principle of Chardi Kala—the ever-rising spirit—her practice holds a graceful balance of devotion and discipline, guiding students toward an embodied experience where discomfort softens and a more essential self begins to emerge. Her teaching is both precise and ineffable, anchored in lived experience rather than concept, with a palpable quality of collective attunement in her group spaces. Based in New York City, Benna lives in commitment to seva—the practice of selfless service—and to the ongoing inquiry of the inner divine, ultimately inviting a return to the intelligence of the heart and a way of being that is both vibrant and deeply aligned.  It is only possible under the tutelage of and in her dedication to her beloved teacher, Hari Kaur, that she has grown into the teacher and a heart centered human she has become.
